" My mother married an elder when I was 1 1/2 years old. He came from a family of pedophiles (also JW's) and I was a pet project. My mother allowed him to physically, mentally & sexually abuse me and my siblings because she was trying to be a "good Christian wife". Whatever that means? The creepo was not disfellowshipped when it came to light what he was doing. Mom and I were informed that he could not possibly be guilty since he cried. It was such a traumatic experience to be 10 years old and forced to tell three men (without your mother in the room) what had been done to me in detail. The question they kept repeating--"Are you sure it was not just affection?" I don't know too many sane people who mistake rape for affection. "

Is sex abuse in the Wt that big of a problem
by joe134cd inbefore i start, i'm not a wt apologist and i am certainly not trying to minimise sex abuse.
i was looking at the amount of sex abuse cases in light of witness population.
just say wt ended up on paying out on 30,000 individual abuse cases.

Ironic quote in the 5/14wt lesson "Are you moving ahead with Jehovahs Organization"
by BU2B inthe whole article makes me ill with its worse than average mind control.. i was going to only include one quote but there are so many doozies that i will post what i feel to be the worst.. from paragraph 6.
"gods organization survives and flourishes on earth because the people who are part of it have his approval.".
the great tribulation has been "so close" for over 120 years of wt history.

"Both Mormons and Seventh-day Adventists started at a similar period of time as the Watchtower Society and have similar numbers of members due to their active preaching. Seventh-day Adventists successfully preach the good news, including at peoples homes."
"For instance, a group renowned for their preaching efforts are Baptists. Baptists have the most missionaries of any religion. In 2004 there were 7 million Baptists out side of America, 600,000 baptisms and 21,000 new churches. In 2004 Witnesses baptised only 200,000 globally."
"Pentecostalism is the world's fastest-growing Christian movement with over 150 million adherents, growing at an estimated 19 million members per year."

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

You asked:"Do you think the decisions that the most intelligent men are able to make are keeping the earth and its inhabitants safe?
Do you think that God would still say that it is good?"
This question seems completely off topic. You are basically asking a rhetorical question of whether man causes many animals to suffer. Different topic. We're talking about why God allows animal suffering.
Still, if you want to propose that God has allowed man to ruin His creation, and that he originally created animals to not suffer, you would then have to provide a solid reason as to why God has allowed man to harm the animals, when He has the power to prevent it at any point.
Does He even care about them?
And, assuming that you will then begin to talk about man's free will being an important factor in letting people run around drowning kittens, setting fire to dogs, and stomping on swans until they die, ask yourself if you believe we should let animal abusers run free.. or do you feel it is right to imprison them?
Because you can't tell me, surely, that if you were God you would allow animals to be abused and murdered?
....
I said: "Ablebodiedman, do you think that animals did not hunt each other before mankind existed?"
You replied:"I really do not know the answer to that question.."
.. Please research the subject then. I gave you an example to start you off, but there is plenty of evidence that animals did hunt and kill each other in violent and merciless battles for survival long before man's dominion over the earth began.
In which case, God's idea of all animal creation being 'good' involved an incredible amount of pain, violence and death, without there being any human mismanagement to blame. -

You said: "Defender of truth,
Do you think that God cares about animals and will intervene to protect them after he has given men the opportunity to see how futile their most intelligent decisions are and the effect that their decisions presently have on the animal kingdom and the fish in the sea?"
...You didn't reply to my question. -

" you may not be aware that, to quote Monty Python, you are stating " the bleedin' obvious". "
.. It's amazing how many Witnesses miss the bleedin' obvious, though. Those pictures are like a slap in the face with a wet fish, even to people with an iq of 10 or less. Great post Focus ;) -

"If you see suffering it is because of the futility of a rulership that has become seperated from God."
....
Ablebodiedman..
How do you explain why God allowed countless animals to suffer before humans even existed, before mankinds rulership began? At that point, surely, it was all under God's rule? -

WT Society holds EXTREME Responsibility for 1975 and False Expectations
by flipper inhowever- many jw's who have come into the jw organization from like 1985 forward virtually may have no knowledge of the wt society's 1975 debacle and false predictions of the end times or armageddon predictions.
just like in in the book 1984 by george orwell the wt society has a way of not only erasing it's history so no newer witnesses will be aware of their false predictions, but also they are re-writing their history as if those false predictions never happened.. so for those of you here who may have never read or heard of how whipped up into an emotional frenzy witnesses were in the years just before 1975 by the wt society claiming the end was any day now- this threads for you.
to see the pressure that was put on jw's by the wt society to get rid of everything before " armageddon " .

"Likewise it is possible to spend valuable time speculating on matters concerning the future. One might ask, In what year will Armageddon begin?...Jehovah has not provided answers at this time. Do you think it wise for Christians to take time from more profitable Bible study to speculate on the answers? Consider the dangers...involves more than saving time. It may save your life...Personal theories can cause division of thought..By setting up hypothetical situations and then speculating..are we not in fact adding to Jehovahs words?..We cannot worship Jehovah in spirit and in truth if our worship is based on speculation. Truth and theory are not synonymous. "
